Anyone traveling to Peru seeking try a superior Pisco should try Pisco Acholado "Ferreyros". You can buy it at WONG, the large grocery chain in Lima. Many restaurants and bars in Lima, San Isidro and Miraflores carry the Ferreyros brand. Needless to say that it is fabulous in a pisco sour, but it is exceptional if sipped straight.

I will be holidying in Peru in August 2007. My first few days are spent travelling south from Lima to Arequipa. I believe this may be the heart of Pisco country. Once you good folks get over your jealousy can someone recommend a favourite brand of Pisco or should I try them all? (stupid question perhaps. I'm from Australia).

My friends and I have recently discovered pisco in Bethedsa,Maryland. A little restaurant called Rock Creek. When I asked the bartender "what is a pisco sour" he simply smiled and said "my favorite cocktail" He quickly explained and with my first sip and it was my favorite cocktail as well.
P.S What is a Peruvian cocktail doing in all of these american restaurants? I guess the same thing vodka is!

I recently went to Peru and enjoyed pisco so much that I decided to start importing my own brand it's called Pisco Lovera. Here in New York, I already have a few venues. If anyone is interested please contact me.

I love pisco! I went to Peru and Bolivia for a month in 2005, and discovered this great spirit. I will take this over tequila or vodka ANY DAY!!!

M Block-

You know I noticed the same thing late last week! - We have had several in the past, but for one reason or another, they've recently dropped off the shelves. Though I don't buy spirirts for the shop, I will MAKE SURE that we get in a few this week.

My wife and I were in Santiago in December and had Pisco for the first time. Those Pisco sours are great drinks before dinner! We each brought back a bottle of Chilean Pisco and had a Pisco Sour party on New Years Eve. Everyone seemed to love them.

I'll have to stop by the Wine Library today to buy a Peruvian Pisco.

Tom,

Great information on Pisco. I am the U.S. importer of Pisco Fuegos, a Chilean pisco that started its distribution a few months back. It's very interesting to see the increased awareness of Pisco and the revival of the Pisco Sour, a great craft cocktail.
